Our refinishing process is intended to improve the appearance of brake calipers whilst providing a durable protective coating against corrosion and environmental deterioration.Â
Our Services are not intended to constitute:Â

remanufacturing;Â
-
hydraulic overhaul;Â

Customers acknowledge that cosmetic refinishing cannot repair worn, seized, leaking or otherwise defective brake components.Â
3.3 Additional Mechanical RepairsÂ
Should any mechanical defect be discovered during the course of our work, including defective seals, seized pistons, leaking hydraulic components or damaged threads, Caliper King will notify the Customer before carrying out any additional chargeable work.Â
No additional repairs will be undertaken without the Customer's prior approval unless immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent further damage or to comply with a legal obligation.Â
4. Quotations & EstimatesÂ
4.1 QuotationsÂ
All quotations are provided in good faith based upon the information available at the time.Â
Unless otherwise stated, quotations remain valid for 30 days from the date of issue.Â
4.2 EstimatesÂ
Any estimate provided before dismantling or inspection is based solely upon a visual assessment.Â
The true condition of brake calipers often cannot be determined until they have been removed, cleaned and prepared.Â
Accordingly, Caliper King reserves the right to revise any estimate where previously hidden defects, corrosion or damage are discovered.Â
4.3 AcceptanceÂ
A quotation shall be deemed accepted when the Customer:Â
pays a booking deposit;Â
confirms acceptance in writing;Â
books an appointment;Â
delivers their vehicle or components to Caliper King; orÂ
instructs Caliper King to commence work.Â
4.4 Price VariationsÂ
Where additional labour, replacement parts or specialist materials become necessary due to hidden corrosion, damaged components or unforeseen defects, the Customer will be notified before any additional chargeable work is carried out.Â
5. Vehicle ConditionÂ
5.1 Customer ResponsibilityÂ
By presenting a vehicle or brake calipers for refinishing, the Customer confirms that, to the best of their knowledge, the vehicle is suitable for the requested work.Â
Customers must notify Caliper King of any known braking faults, previous repairs, modifications or issues that may affect the Services.Â
5.2 Pre-existing DefectsÂ
Caliper King accepts no responsibility for faults, failures or defects existing before work commences.Â
This includes, without limitation:Â
-
seized pistons;Â
-
brake fluid leaks;Â
-
damaged seals;Â
-
worn brake discs or pads;Â
-
broken bleed nipples;Â
-
seized bleed nipples;Â
-
damaged mounting bolts;Â
-
rounded fasteners;Â
-
damaged threads;Â
-
corrosion;Â
-
previous poor-quality repairs;Â
-
non-standard modifications;Â
-
hydraulic defects; andÂ
-
general wear associated with age or use.Â
5.3 Damaged ComponentsÂ
Brake components are routinely exposed to high temperatures, moisture, road salt and corrosion.Â
Customers acknowledge that calipers, bleed nipples, bolts, unions and threaded fixings may seize over time.Â
Whilst every reasonable care will be taken during service, Caliper King shall not be responsible where seized or corroded components shear, break or become damaged during normal dismantling due to their pre-existing condition rather than any lack of reasonable care or skill.Â
Replacement components and any additional labour required will be quoted separately.Â
5.4 Existing CorrosionÂ
Brake calipers naturally deteriorate through exposure to:Â
-
moisture;Â
-
road salt;Â
-
brake dust;Â
-
heat;Â
-
road debris; andÂ
-
environmental contamination.Â
Although every caliper undergoes extensive preparation, Customers acknowledge that:Â
-
corrosion may have permanently damaged the casting;Â
-
deep pitting cannot always be removed;Â
-
manufacturing marks may remain visible;Â
-
structural damage cannot be repaired through cosmetic refinishing; andÂ
-
the final finish depends upon the condition of the caliper when received.Â
Where corrosion has progressed beyond what Caliper King considers suitable for safe refinishing, we reserve the right to refuse the work or recommend replacement of the affected component.Â
6. Finish Quality & Customer ExpectationsÂ
Caliper King is committed to delivering a professional, high-quality finish using specialist automotive refinishing techniques.Â
However, Customers acknowledge that brake calipers are used mechanical components and not new manufactured parts.Â
Whilst every effort is made to achieve an excellent cosmetic result, the following may remain visible after refinishing where they existed beforehand:Â
-
corrosion pitting;Â
-
casting imperfections;Â
-
previous repairs;Â
-
manufacturing marks;Â
-
surface irregularities;Â
-
age-related wear; andÂ
-
permanent damage caused by corrosion.Â
Due to the hand-finished nature of the refinishing process, slight differences in colour, gloss level, texture or decal positioning may occurÂ
7. Materials, Paint Systems & CoatingsÂ
7.1 Professional MaterialsÂ
Caliper King uses professional automotive refinishing materials selected for their suitability in brake caliper applications, including:Â
-
Specialist primers;Â
-
Anti-corrosion preparation products;Â
-
High-temperature colour coatings;Â
-
Protective clear coats; andÂ
-
Custom-produced decals and graphics.Â
Whilst we select materials intended to provide a durable and attractive finish, all coatings are subject to normal wear and deterioration caused by use, environmental conditions and maintenance practices.Â
7.2 Coating PerformanceÂ
The durability and appearance of the finished coating depends on several factors, including:Â
-
Vehicle usage;Â
-
Brake temperatures;Â
-
Driving conditions;Â
-
Environmental exposure;Â
-
Cleaning methods;Â
-
Chemical exposure;Â
-
Maintenance practices; andÂ
-
Damage caused after completion.Â
Caliper King does not guarantee that any coating will remain unaffected indefinitely under all operating conditions.Â
7.3 Surface PreparationÂ
Preparation is the most important stage of the refinishing process and directly affects coating adhesion, durability and corrosion resistance.Â
-
Preparation may include:Â
-
Mechanical rust removal;Â
-
Removal of existing coatings;Â
-
Abrasion and smoothing of surfaces;Â
-
Degreasing;Â
-
Contaminant removal;Â
-
Metal treatment;Â
-
Application of primers; andÂ
-
Application of protective coatings.Â
The level of preparation required will depend on the original condition of the brake calipers.Â
Where corrosion or surface damage has permanently affected the metal, complete removal of all imperfections may not be possible without compromising the integrity of the component.Â
8. Colour MatchingÂ
8.1 OEM Colour MatchingÂ
Where requested, Caliper King will make reasonable efforts to match manufacturer colours or produce colours inspired by original equipment manufacturer (OEM) finishes.Â
However, exact colour reproduction cannot always be guaranteed.Â
Customers acknowledge that variations may occur due to:Â
-
Factory manufacturing tolerances;Â
-
Ageing or fading of existing vehicle finishes;Â
-
Differences between paint formulations;Â
-
Lighting conditions;Â
-
Viewing angles;Â
-
Metallic, pearl or candy pigment characteristics;Â
-
Surface differences; andÂ
-
Digital image or screen display variations.Â
8.2 Acceptable VariationÂ
Minor variations in:Â
-
Colour shade;Â
-
Gloss level;Â
-
Texture;Â
-
Metallic appearance; orÂ
-
Finish depthÂ
shall be considered acceptable within normal automotive refinishing tolerances.Â
Such variations shall not constitute a defect.Â
Minor variations are accepted within normal automotive refinishing tolerances.Â
8.3 Existing Vehicle FinishesÂ
Where refinishing is carried out to match existing vehicle components, Customers acknowledge that factory finishes may have changed over time due to:Â
-
UV exposure;Â
-
Weathering;Â
-
Cleaning products;Â
-
Previous repairs; andÂ
-
General ageing.Â
Caliper King cannot guarantee an exact visual match between newly refinished components and aged vehicle finishes.Â
9. Bespoke Colours, Custom Designs & DecalsÂ
9.1 Customer ApprovalÂ
Where Customers request:Â
-
Bespoke colours;Â
-
Personalised designs;Â
-
Custom graphics;Â
-

-

-

the Customer is responsible for confirming that all colours, designs, spelling, sizing and layout details are correct before production or application.Â
Once approved by the Customer, the specification shall be considered final.Â
9.2 Custom MaterialsÂ
Custom paint colours and decals are prepared specifically for individual orders.Â
Customers acknowledge that:Â
-
Bespoke materials may not be reusable;Â
-
Deposits may be used to cover preparation costs;Â
-
Custom materials cannot normally be refunded once prepared;Â
-
Slight variations between paint batches may occur; andÂ
-
Minor differences in finish are acceptable.Â
Customers who later change their mind regarding an approved colour, design or finish will not be entitled to a refund on the basis of preference change alone.Â
10. OEM-Inspired Branding & Intellectual PropertyÂ

Caliper King may produce and apply OEM-inspired logos, lettering and graphics where requested by the Customer.Â
Such decals and graphics are supplied solely for cosmetic and aesthetic purposes.Â

May infringe intellectual property rights;Â
Is unlawful;Â
Is offensive; orÂ
May expose Caliper King to legal liability.Â

No additional chargeable work will be carried out without Customer approval.Â
11.3 Refusal of WorkÂ
Caliper King reserves the right to refuse, suspend or discontinue work where:Â
A component is unsafe;Â
The condition of the component prevents a satisfactory result;Â
Completing the work may compromise quality; orÂ
The Customer declines necessary additional work.Â
Where work is declined, reasonable charges may still apply for labour and materials already used.Â
12. Paint Curing & AftercareÂ
12.1 Curing PeriodÂ
Following completion, the coating system will continue to cure and develop maximum hardness over time.Â
Customers must follow the recommended aftercare instructions to protect the finish during this curing period.Â
